Nigeria will host the RegTech Africa Conference and Expo (RACE 2026) from May 20 to 22, 2026, following the official unveiling of the event at the State House in Abuja. The conference, to be held under the auspices of the Office of the Vice President, is being organised in partnership with the Presidential Committee on Economic and Financial Inclusion and in collaboration with the Inter-Governmental Action Group Against Money Laundering in West Africa (GIABA).
Organisers described RACE 2026 as Africa’s leading platform at the intersection of regulation, technology and economic development, aimed at addressing regulatory and infrastructure gaps that hinder cross-border trade, finance and digital innovation. Anchored on the vision of “Africonomy” and aligned with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), the conference will focus on regulatory innovation, trusted digital infrastructure, policy alignment and financial inclusion, while showcasing investment opportunities in areas such as fintech, compliance, cybersecurity and digital services.
GIABA’s Acting Principal Officer for Legal and Law Enforcement, Gina Wood, said the conference comes at a critical time as West African countries prepare for a new round of anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing evaluations. She stressed the need for stronger coordination, effective supervision and greater use of technology, commending Nigeria’s support for the initiative and describing RACE 2026 as a timely platform to advance a trusted, inclusive and future-ready regulatory framework across Africa.
