The successful implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement depends, to a large extent, on the willingness of State Parties (parties to the Agreement) to domesticate its provisions .
Each country needs to incorporate its provisions into their legal and economic framework, by taking the necessary executive and legislative steps.
This action of its own, will bring the following among other benefits, enhance trade benefits, stimulate economic growth, and foster regional integration across Africa.
To accelerate the benefits of AfCFTA in Nigeria, collaboration among lawyers, judges, and scholars is essential in shaping policies, addressing legal ambiguities, and input into trade-friendly regulations. It is commendable that Nigeria AfCFTA Coordination Office is initiating a Summit to raise awareness and engage key stakeholders from both the public and private sectors.
Our Principal Consultant, Soji Awogbade, FEI, has been invited to speak at the upcoming National Summit.
The Summit, themed “The Role of the Bar, the Bench, and the Academia in the Domestication of the AfCFTA in Nigeria”, will feature a number of respected authorities in International Trade, to share valuable insights on this important topic.
