The AfCFTA Secretariat, in partnership with Quest Ghana Limited and the Government of the Republic of Seychelles, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening Seychelles’ digital economy and enhancing its participation in Africa’s growing digital trade ecosystem. The agreement underscores Seychelles’ commitment to leveraging the AfCFTA framework to expand trade opportunities and integrate more fully into continental digital markets.
The collaboration is designed to position Seychelles as a competitive hub for digital trade, enabling businesses—particularly micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs)—to access the AfCFTA market m2ore effectively. Key focus areas include creating a secure and interoperable framework for cross-border digital transactions, promoting system and platform compatibility, supporting innovation, and enhancing regulatory coordination across jurisdictions.
By establishing a robust digital trade ecosystem, the partnership aims to facilitate seamless cross-border e-commerce, reduce transaction barriers, and encourage innovation-driven growth. It also strengthens Seychelles’ capacity to participate in Africa’s rapidly expanding digital economy, fostering new opportunities for trade, investment, and regional integration.
